This is definitely one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. The plot is very good and very well mixed with gore, cruelty and revenge. The movie does not contain cheesy scenes and every action is well justified and based on a strong reason. What I also liked about the acting is that you could read the characters' feelings and thoughts on their facial expression. Anger, hate, despair, mercilessness, fear, pain... all perfectly scarred on their faces! If you are a high school student, whether you are a bully or a nerd, this is a movie in which you can find an important lesson of how to <more>
properly behave with your colleagues. This lesson is taught in a sadistic and brutal way, though, and it is based on a dark philosophy grown in those bullied students' minds. All in all, if you are a fan of drama/horror movies, then this is the perfect one for you! I might say it is even better than "Bang Bang, you're dead!".
I can't possibly put into words how much I loved this movie. I've tried explaining it to my friends, but I can't. It is one of those movies you just NEED to go and see. The only thing that I didn't like was the length of it. Totally should have been longer then 1hr 32mins. It caught the view of most public schools in America and really gave a view into a killer's mind. Totally kicked Bang Bang You're Dead out of the park on my favorite movie list. It may be gruesome for some people. Can't wait for the DVD to come out! : Great great great job, my rating of this is <more>
significantly off the scales, out of 5 stars, I give it over 100.
I know some of the filmmakers who worked on this and as a friend I try to support them on their projects. Usually I wind up giving a false praise to be kind, but not on this film, my praise is authentic and the film was terrific from start to finish. The story was thought provoking and the acting overall was great. There are some gems in this film and they will in time be noted. It is great to see a film like this break out of Dallas. I recommend all to see it as it makes a great statement about high school bullying. If you want gore but no story, this is not for you. Truly a great indie <more>
horror/drama. I was most impressed with the level of production value as most small indie films look as if they were shot without any regard to environment or use the setting as part of the story. The situations and styles were well thought out and the director did a nice job of allowing to enter into the story. Nice.
I was told to watch this from some of my friends under the pre-tense that it was chilling. I was not disappointed. It starts of showing what most schools are like, you have the popular kids who are beautiful and basically rule the school, and then you have the kids who are the outcasts. They are bullied everyday, all day for no apparent reason. This of course causes them great distress and so they decide to band together to get revenge. There is an atmosphere of tension throughout the film, which makes it impossible to turn away. There are some truly horrid scenes which aren't very gory <more>
but will make you grit your teeth and hope it ends soon. The actors did a good job on both parts to portray normal kids who have gone a bit "mad" and of being tortured. I recommend that you watch this
The Final is a tense drama more than a horror film. If you want to see something like SAW or Hostel you will not like this. I'm a junior in high school it spoke to me in so many ways. This was almost like my own little fantasy of getting to see the kids I hate at school finally get punished. Almost to a fault, it doesn't over-explain things to you. I had to read in the trivia section here to understand one of the subplots, and if you don't get it, you will think there was an editing error. Both strong as well as not so strong acting throughout. But as a story, it seemed meant for <more>
me. It's rated R but I think if you're in high school and have ever been bullied or just hate the popular kids then this film may speak to you, too.
This is a movie I have wanted to see for a long long time and finally found it and was so stoked. Not only was it amazing it was 10 times better than I hoped it would be. The idea of this movie is something I have not only not seen but something I have even thought about. You hear all the stuff about bullying yet nothing is done and the victims take it into their own hands. It is absolutely brilliant and was preformed outstandingly. The actors/actresses did a fantastic job and were all quite believable. I had people I wanted to live and people I just wanted done with and that is exactly what <more>
I look for. This could have been WAY more gory but it was just the right amount to make it a great movie. This is a movie I will be buying and watching over and over in time. This movie is in my top 10 of all time.I give "The Final" a 9 out of 10.
I was apprehensive when I approached The Final, choice cut of Afterdark Horrorfest 2010. Any movie portraying school related violence runs the risk of offending many, but The Final, crafted with this in mind, scores a home-run by walking the tightrope and putting on a class act. The main characters were anti-heroes, to be sympathized with, but certainly not to be admired even by the most disturbed of movie goers . I personally appreciated the well crafted chemistry among the villains. The violence was well orchestrated as well. The film relied more on suspense than gore, something to be <more>
admired in a horror film these days. Overall, The Final proved to a highly entertaining piece, while delivering some serious catharsis when the credits rolled to those of us who feared offense. It's not perfect in all its areas, but it was the best of the Horrorfest, as far as I'm concerned.
Scared to hell out me because you know stuff like this happens in the mind of kids who get picked on. God help us if any kids today decide to act out on their violent fantasies. Shame on the jocks and socials who have to belittle the others to make them feel better about themselves. The personas that the downtrodden kids take on are truly priceless. The Nazi, the Dominatrix, the Scarecrow Clown, or Mr. GasMask; you can help but root for them and wince at the same time when they wield their retribution. The Creepy Banjo tune has the same of effect of the tell tale music that plays in Jaws when <more>
the shark was around. Also very surprised to hear that the movie was made on a shoestring budget. They did a lot with a little. It all makes for one hell of a scary movie. Definitely worth the price of admission!
When I heard of this film, I was not expecting much. How can I? I mean, with movies like Saw, Hostel and the likes, torture is the way to go in film these days. I have read a lot of reviews on this and I think the most negative ones don't seem to get what this film is about. It's more about revenge for some bullying. It shows what happens when kids reached the breaking point and use whatever they have at their disposal to fight back. Their intent was clear at the end. They did not want to kill them. Even though it was optional. Their intent was to hurt them in the same manner they <more>
have hurt them all these years. They wanted them to live so they would remember the night. Few died. But most of them survived, even badly hurt. The irony lies in what happened afterwards. In a world were the focus lies on physical beauty, those who survived and were injured became the outcasts. It hits the spot well when the main outcast delivers those speeches. The bullied kids always asks themselves: why? What they do to deserve this? Now it is the bullies who are asking themselves those questions. While some act all brave, their true colours are shown in time of crisis. Granted, it wasn't a pure horrorfilm like we are used to. The horror was more subtle. Throughout the first act, we are hinted at what will come, so when it arrives we knew that this was the climax of everything set in motion. The actors did a excellent job in their performances.
